Wednesday June 30th
We explore Cusco today, which is a great city- filled with Inca landmarks and works all over the place. It has a wonderful feel, and a lively atmosphere. We shop, get coffees and chocolates, take a tour of the ruins within the city… And relax.
Dinner is the most interesting part of this day; The day we eat guinea pig. Although its weird that these little guys are pets of most American kids at one point or another- I find myself generally okay with the idea that in Peru, this is a delicacy and really is not different than eating, say chicken or duck. But once that guinea pig lands on the table, paws, head, toenails and all…. I cannot stand the sight of it. Mom and I share a pig, but I eat no more than one bite before I completely loose my appetite. Guineas do not taste good- at all. First, there is barely any meat, which you have to pry off their little bones. And secondly, the mean that there is tastes gamey and…. unpleasant. We are not fans, but do our best at dinner.
After dinner we all go to a bar for dancing, living music and drinks. It’s out last night together before we all begin our travels home.
